New five year NIHR contract for RDS East of England

The Research Design Service East of England (RDS EoE) has been awarded a further five years funding by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

The funding which starts in October 2018 will allow the RDS EoE to continue its successful work, offering free and confidential advice to support health and social care researchers turn their ideas into strong research proposals.

The funding will go to the RDS EoE which is based in the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Essex, with partner sites at the Universities of Bedfordshire, Cambridge, East Anglia, Essex and Hertfordshire and a number of NHS trusts.

It is one of ten NHS and higher education collaborations that have been awarded a total of £50m by the NIHR.

Professor Gill Green, Director of NIHR RDS EoE at the University of Essex, said:

“I am delighted that the RDS has received another five years of funding.  We look forward to continuing to support researchers in the East of England and to developing new partners in social care.”

The RDS EoE team has a strong track record of contributing to health and social care research on which to build, providing valuable advice to researchers across the region.

According to one client: “The RDS team were invaluable from the very earliest stages of this proposal. They undoubtedly formed a key component of our eventual success.   The RDS team formed a point of contact for us that helped us better understand what was expected and how best to respond to the questions at all stages of the application.”
